Wondering what you can do to help Conserve Endangered Ecosystems in The Amazon Rainforest?

You have made it this far with a company that truly cares about the environment and its creatures. Providing jobs for local Amazonians is just not enough, that is why Otorongo Expeditions Directly invests in private conservation. We currently have several conservation projects on the ground and running.  Spanning several distinct ecosystems, from Iquitos to Oran

We need your support to continue and grow our conservation aspirations

 Current Conservation Projects

150   Hectares Terra Firme primary forests close to Iquitos

  1. Located in Tierra Hermosa, district of Punchana, this site is the most vulnerable at the moment due to its proximity to Iquitos and the expansion of unsustainable development

10     Hectares Reforestation of in the Oran Creek

  1. Reforestation performed by local University UNAP in 2016, The property was a cattle pasture, it is now in transformation to a Brazil nut grove

20     Hectares Terra firme bordering Varzea forest of The Oran Creek

  1. This property directly borders the Otorongo Amazon River Lodge

1000 Hectares Communal Wildlife Reserve of Fossil Creek

  1. Fossil Creek Wildlife Reserve is a joint conservation effort with two local communities, Roca Eterna and Comunidad Nativa Nuevo Union de Boyador. A binding contract with Owners of Otorongo Expeditions for a period of 10 years. Expires 2026

A grand total of 1,180 Hectares or 2,915 acres of prime wildlife habitat and endangered ecosystems safe for now

Maintaining these areas has its financial costs. Aside from keeping property lines cleared, there are informal Reserve guards that need to patrol the area frequently. Just declaring an area protected is not enough, we have people actively guarding the areas to keep poachers and loggers off the properties.

Please consider donating to this noble cause.  Any amount is welcome to help us stave back the evils of over extraction and unsustainable development

Our monthly costs of maintaining all these areas is over $1450.00

For example, $350 per month are the costs to maintain the perimeter of the Fossil Creek Wildlife Reserve

At the same time, it costs $300 per month to maintain perimeter and brazil nut reforestation plot. Each month a group of people from Oran must cultivate the transects where the Brazil nuts are planted.

The cost for maintaining the perimeter of the 150 hectares in Tierra Hermosa is roughly that of $550.00 monthly

The cost for maintaining the perimeter in Oran is approximately $250.00

Aside from these costs, we have operational expenses for logistics, legal fees, Taxes, documentation. As well as a plan for constructing investigation center for biologists to study the protected areas.  Our expenses are enormous and we are desperately in need of funds to keep the project going.

The revenue generated by Otorongo Expeditions is not enough to maintain these areas while at the same time, providing stable work for 30+ local inhabitants.

The threats are real and in the future, only forested areas that are privately protected will be left as fragments, relics of historic forests that persisted for millions of years before the untethered growth of our wondrous population called humanity.

Please consider a donation, the future of the forests depends on people like us who can see the value of conserving ecosystems in a manner congruent with current uncertainties of the future.
