Vaccine Passport requirement for Peru?

Vaccine Passports for Peru?

It is unlikely that Peru will require a vaccine passport .Peru is lacking a significant number of vaccines in country . A crisis is afoot because of the faulty administration of existing vials to politicians instead of the at-risk population .The subject of obtaining vaccines happens to be one of the most heated topics for the presidential candidates of 2021. One candidate exclaimed he would personally fly to the USA to collect vaccines from several companies.

Although Otorongo Expeditions is authorized to function during this sanitary emergency, we have decided to not promote any travel during this period. We are complying with health and sanitary regulations of maintaining disinfectant stations in our facilities. As well as social distancing and using masks when necessary.

Our policy for "Vaccine Passports"

Otorongo Expeditions Amazon River Lodge will not be requiring a "Vaccine Passport" to partake in our tours . A Vaccine passport is discriminatory to individuals that have recovered from mild Covid19. Healthy individuals that had mild infections will present a natural immunity and most likely won't need a preventative/experimental vaccine. The vaccine is meant to reduce their risk of getting severe covid19 and prevent hospitalization/death.

Recent studies have shown that antibodies for covid can be present in peoples bloodstream for up to 8 months after infection.

Immunological memory to SARS-CoV-2 assessed for up to 8 months after infection

Why a vaccine is still recommended for these individuals is curious to say the least. More research is required in the long term. Continued investigation and questioning of all possible facets and outcomes is important for the scientific method.

The CDC itself proclaims

The risks of SARS-CoV-2 infection in fully vaccinated people cannot be completely eliminated as long as there is continued community transmission of the virus. Vaccinated people could potentially still get COVID-19 and spread it to others. CDC LINK HERE

Other studies have shown that antibodies from the common cold can cross recognize Sars-Cov-2. This is a possible explanation for asymptomatic transmission and why so many people report mild, common cold like symptoms.

“We have now proven that, in some people, pre-existing T cell memory against common cold coronaviruses can cross-recognize SARS-CoV-2, down to the exact molecular structures,” Weiskopf says. “This could help explain why some people show milder symptoms of disease while others get severely sick.”

In conclusion, it is highly unlikely a vaccine passport will be required to enter Peru.
